Today. Despite feeling absolutely like a slug. I went to the gym at lunch.
And? you ask.
I ran three miles!! Yay for me!
I realize this isn’t a stellar accomplishment for many people but for me this is HUGE! Every day for the past year of so we go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I usually make it just to about two miles. Recently we started a new workout that we stole from Prevention Magazine. (God are we old or what?) It has you start out walking two minutes, running one. Then it ups you to one minute walking, one running. Each week you add one extra minute running in between walking. This is awesome. I’ve found that because I get to “rest” for a minute I can run at a faster pace and actually go further.
This week we are at four minutes running to one minute walking. We ran for 35 minutes and since I felt yucky, I actually skipped one of the running intervals and just walked for six minutes. And I still made it 3.15 miles. I may actually make it to a race this summer.
