Random bits of last week

10 Sep

It was a really wonderful week. We started out on Sunday by going to a picnic on Seneca Lake. Jeffrey got to take his first buh-boat ride and he LOVED it.

We relaxed our way through Labor Day, inviting over Marc and Heidi and their kids.

Tuesday brought the workweek and a visit with the occupational therapist, Miss Judy.  Jeffrey loves his OT appointments, he gets to eat AND play at them. Judy did her accessment of Jeffrey because his IFSP meeting is the 25th of this month. The IFSP is where we meet every six months with all of his providers and determine whether he is still eligible for EI services and what they should be. She thinks that he will not be eligible for her services anymore which is good and bad. Good because woo hoo Jeffrey is catching up to his actual age and bad because we really appreciate her help and don’t want him to go backwards without it. However she thinks that she would like to continue to keep track of him and we can probably still continue to see her but maybe once a month instead of every two weeks.

Early Intervention has been so amazing for us and for Jeffrey. I really don’t know where we would be without it. It really helps that the therapists are able to make judgements to continue to give services even if your child doesn’t completely meet the criteria anymore. It’s nice to know that they’re looking out for the best interests of the families and children and not just following criteria in a book.

Wednesday was the Open House at Margaret’s House. We got to “formally” meet Jeffrey’s new teachers and ask any questions that we might have. He has officially moved into the Young Toddlers room. This means now he sleeps on a cot for nap and they go outside on the playground every day. His new teachers, Melissa and Missy seem really great. Missy came with him from the Infant 2 class and we really like her. They’re doing a lot of neat stuff with the kids and I’m really happy we chose this center for Jeffrey.

Friday we decided to crash in on friends Adam and Joanne. We brought pizza and the kids played together. We didn’t go home until 10:30pm. So much for our great bedtime routine on the weekends. 🙂

The weekend went well. We went to the mall on Saturday and bought some new clothes for Jeffrey. We really needed to get him new socks. I’ve  been cramming his little feet into 3-6month socks forevere now and it’s getting really ridiculous.

Sunday, I got called into work for a donor and I was there from 11am until 8pm. Unfortunately, it looks like it might fall through and no one will get any organs. 😦 I don’t feel bad about going in when I at least know that people will benefit from it. Oh well, at least I’ll get overtime for it.

So that was the week, hopefully this week will slow down and I’ll be able to post more. Have a good one!

It sounds like you guys had a great week!

I am also usually stuffing my kids’ feet into socks that are way too small for them. I mean how hard is it to get to the store to get new ones? Apparently for us…pretty difficult 🙂

Doesn’t it make you kind of sad to think of Jeffrey on a cot for naptime? I remember the first time I saw my kids sit at a little table by themselves for snacks or crafts…I kept thinking they were too little! They grow up so fast!

It’s great that Jeffrey might not need the therapy anymore! But I also know how you feel about getting close to someone and feeling confident that he’s where he needs to be because he goes there a lot. But if she says he should be fine then I’m sure she knows what she’s talking about!

Way to go, Jeffrey!! Not needing certain services anymore, being on a cot, being in the toddler room!!

Amazes me that Morgan and Jeffrey are 20 months old. Doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.

HWM- I know, the first day he was eating at the little table and not a high chair. It was like “oh no, he’s growing up already.”
Just needing to take a left turn to go to the toddler room instead of right to infants was a huge transition for me. I love watching him grow but, it’s definitely bittersweet.

Kellie- I know!! How did it get to be 20 months!
