A Call to Arms

05 Mar

Since I’ve been meaning to do this for awhile and have been neglectful of my duties; Kellie reminded me today.

Walk America is coming up on May 6th. For those of you that don’t know, Walk America is a fund raiser for the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes funds research on pregnancy and ending prematurity. Most, if not all of you, know that our son Jeffrey was born eleven weeks early. He spent 56 days in the NICU at Golisano Children’s Hospital. We are eternally grateful to the NICU staff, counselors, and support personnel that helped us through our ordeal.

Jeffrey is doing extremely well due to the wonderful staff at the NICU, the spectacular therapists we’ve encountered through early intervention and due to the tremendous amount of research funded by the March of Dimes. This year, we will be walking in the Rochester area and we encourage anyone to join us and be part of our team. Last year it was just Brian, Jeffrey and I. This year I really hope we can expand our team and show our greater support.

So, my plea to you all. Please come walk with us. Raise money to support the March of Dimes. They keep babies alive and give them better outcomes when they arrive early. It is a spectacular organization and deserves our support. There are Walk America sites all over the US in different cities on different dates. So if you can’t walk with us, walk somewhere else in support of us.

Here is our team site and my individual page. I’ll be putting up a more current picture of Jeffrey soon. Thank you so much for your support. Trust me, life in the NICU is hard. Anything we can do to make life easier for these babies and their families is well worth it.

Our walk is 4/29…why can’t we all walk the SAME day??!! We could, like, be on our cell phones at the same time and pretend we’re walking together.

So many walks! So many fundraisers! What’s a team-leader’s friend to do? Lucky for me they ARE on different days so at least I have the opportunity to hit them all if possible.
