Senseless

Brian bought me an ipod for Christmas. He wanted to give me a Zen but I was dragged down by the marketing of Apple. I love my ipod, but I fear that I am not living up to the expectations of my husband. I feel badly about this but lets face it, I am not as technically inclined as Brian. He thinks I should carry it with me to work, to the gym, in the car etc.  I think that if I carry it everywhere I will stop interacting with people. For instance, I go to the gym with Angela. We talk, I like the interaction and feel that the ipod would be intrusive. He also wishes for me to organize it and use it more efficiently.  I would also love to do this, but it takes time.  Why does everything take so much time? Is it bad that I would rather sit down and write a post than organize my ipod playlist? I do need to figure it out though because it is strange if you have it on random shuffle.  You may listen to Charlie Parker on the first track and Frank Zappa on the second.  It doesn’t make any sense.

Speaking of making no sense, I have no idea where this post is going.  I suppose I just feel bad that Brian has these grand expectations of me and then I let him down. I try, perhaps in the future I’ll become a technology maven and he will bow down to my superior intellect. I won’t hold my breath.

Thinking of Others

Not to bring down everyone’s day or anything, but one of the blogs that I read posted something about a friend yesterday that I thought I would share.
When Leanne was five and a half months pregnant she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma. She’s started chemo now and is fighting hard. She is no longer pregnant. For all of us that have had tragedies or difficult pregnancies you can imagine how heartbreaking this is for them. I just thought that they could use all the thoughts and prayers that they can get. Here is a link to their blog.

As we drift off to sleep tonight, take a moment to think of these strangers and send them your love. Remind yourself how precious our lives are and be grateful for every moment we have with our families. Thank you everyone who listens to my thoughts and know that you are all in my heart. I feel grateful to be gifted with you all.

Just a note to let everyone know that I am visiting my in-laws this weekend and won’t be around much. I’ll catch up and post more on Monday.  Have a great weekend everyone!

My Five Things

I’ve been tagged by Kurt. Once you have been tagged, you have to write a post with five facts about yourself. Then choose five people you want to tag and list their names. Then leave a comment on their blog letting them know they’ve been tagged.

Here are my five things. They are probably things that some of you already know about me, but hopefully you’ll learn something new about me :)

1. I am closet Star Wars geek. I am a fountain of information for the original Trilogy . I own a light sabre and an extraordinary number of action figures. While in college, I once enacted a scene from Episode IV, for my fencing class.

2. I own over a thousand books and I’m extremely anal retentive about them. I freak out if the cover isn’t pristine or (God forbid!) if the spine is broken. I will sell or get rid of it rather than keep one that’s messed up. The only exceptions are books that have been lovingly broken in by multiple readings.

3. I don’t love all small children and I’m kinda frightened of any older than Jeffrey. I just don’t know how to interact and I have no natural instincts. I’m trying to get better but only because of watching Brian.

4. When I was in high school I used to work at a veterinary clinic. The doc I worked for did large and small animals as well as exotics. While working there I spent a considerable amount of time working with cougars, lions and tigers. I had a lot of hands on time and (at the time) was extremely comfortable working alone with these very amazing animals. I really fell in love with large cats and would love to one day again own or rescue one.

5. I am a huge, huge fan of Mystery Science Theatre 3000. I used to watch it every night when I was in high school and during the past year Brian got the entire collection for me. I have ten seasons of bad movies with the bots and Joel or Mike. It made me a crappy person to go to the movies with because I am constantly trying to stop myself from making stupid comments during the film.

Thank you Kurt for tagging me. This was a fun meme!

The people I tag are… (forgive me if you don’t want to be tagged, I’m reaching out to bloggers that I read).

Hang Ups

Just a quick note to say that Jeffrey has been sick and work has seriously been interfering with my blogging.  We’re going out to visit Brian’s family this weekend and then i should be able to get back to my normal blogging routine.  Hopefully I’ll have time to post tomorrow.  Good night everyone!!
